Killing time while Iced In

Here a few pictures I took over the couple of days we were iced in and didn't have much else to do. The girls love to paint so we did some painting, playing with babies, dress up, duck duck goose, red light green light and amoung other things. Just to also explain why Katie is where a summer dress in the middle of winter, just so you all don't think I am crazy. For Christmas we got Katie a couple of sweaters from Children's Place and after she opened then me later told me she didn't like them. Already at the age of 3 my child thinks I have no taste. It is going to be fun with the years to come. I told her since it was her christmas gift we would take them back and she could pick out something else. She fell in love with this dress they had and wanted it. I told her we would get it but she couldn't wear it until it got warmer. So now we have settled with she can wear it in the house until it gets warmer outside, because as she explains to me it is warm in the house so she should be able to wear it. This is why you will see her in the dress in almost every picture. Hey, I am not complaining this is a step up from her only wearing panties around the house. :) Enjoy the pics.

Ice Days

The past three days we have been iced in at our house. We had nothing but freezing rain, sleet and some snow falling from Monday until Wednseday morning. The girls were out of school on Tuesday and Wednesday so it was nice to have some time with them and they enjoyed having the break from their normal schedule. Even thought it was freezing cold, I let the girls go outside for a few mintues to check out the ice and snow. Here a few pictures of them all bundled up.

Laughter is Good for the Soul

Last night I was able to get away from the house for a few hours to go and join some friends in playing Bunko. Jamie a girl from my SS class started organizing this several month ago and they play every month but I had not be able to go in the past due to Chris' school schedule, but this year his schedule allows me the time to go. Last night we had such a good time of eating good food, girl talk, lots of laughter and of course playing Bunko. I learned quickly that I am not a skilled bunko player so I had the most loses, but on the upside I won all the toilet paper. That is a savings within itself. :) Last night I learned that an evening of laughter can just melt away the stress in your life. The past couple of weeks for me have been so stressful with work. I am really struggling with some changes with my job. Last night I felt like a new person when I came home. Just being able to relax, not think and have a good time.

Green Light, Yellow Light, Red Light

Everyday when Katie is picked up from school her teacher Ms. Kathy always give us a little piece of paper that tells what they learned that day, if they took a nap, any special activities going on and if Kaite got a green light, yellow light or red light for the day. Green light means she was good that day, yellow light means something happened, normally just not listing and of course red lights means you just had a bad day. Katie always comes home with green lights and love to tells us that what she got for the day. Well, on Monday when Katie came in the door she walked up to me and told me she got a yellow light.I was impressed that she just admitted to and didn't wait until I looked at her paper. When she told me she started to cry asking if I was mad at her. I asked her why she got the yellow light and she said that Ms. Kathy asked her to "clean up like 5 times" and Katie said she didn't listen. I told Katie I wasn't mad but that she just needed to try better tomorrow. I got to thinking after that conversation with Katie and the fact that she was worried that I was going to be mad at here. I started thinking I wonder what type of lights we as adults we get if we were held to that same system by our boss, co-workers, friends, spouses or even our own kids. Hopefully, we would all get greens on most days but I know we all would have our yellow and definatley red light days. It makes it hard for me to get to upset with Katie for getting a yellow light one day out of how knows how many green light day since I know I wouldn't always get green lights myself.

Of course yesterday when I picked her up, she got a green light and was beyond excited to tell me she got it.

New Year Update

Well, as always it seems are lives just stay so busy. This week for some reason has just been one big blur for me. My job has been hectic, and that is an understatement. The first of the year is alway slammed for me, but seeing that the economic times are so bad right now I am just thankful to still have a job.
Since I haven't had time to keep you all up to date on some of the little things we have been doing, I just thought I would try to catch everyone up as to what we have been up to.
Mom and Dad were here over Christmas and New Years. We had a great visit and the girls were over the moon that Nana and Papaw were here. Katie asked them almost everyday, so where you all talking us today. Katie is an on the go girl. She loves going to stores and going somewhere to eat. She just thinks these things are great adventures. Mom and Dad left on Sunday so the girls are stuck back with plain ole Mom and Dad. I believe Katie and Bree go through withdrawls after Nana and Papaw leave but I believe they are now getting back to their normal schedule. The wimpers of wanting Nana and Papaw have started to fade. Bree has decided to start something new and it is biting. On Wednesday when I picked the girls from school Bree's teacher told me she bite another child and then yesterday she bit three, yes three, more times. Katie was never a bitter she was alway the one who came home with bite marks, so this is new territory for Chris and I, so keep your fingers crossed we can get her out of this habit before it gets any worse.
Chris is back started back to school, he has nine classes left and will have his MBA. I am still volunteering at St. Fransic in the NICU and really enjoying it. It is so hard to put it words what a blessing it is to be around those little babies fighting to grow and getting healthy it just reaffirms to me how awesome God really is and the miracles he can perform. Chris and I both are also helping out over the next two months with Upwards Basketball. Upwards is a rec basketball league that our church leads. Chris and I both are coaches.....okay you can all stop laughing now. Yes, I am a basketball coach, well I am not sure I would call me a coach but I try. Chris is coaching 3rd/4th grad boys and I have 3rd/4th girls. Our first game is tomorrow, but I have faith in my girls they will carry me through if nothing else.
Even though are lives stay busy we really wouldn't have it any other way. We are loving that we get to be so involved in our church and get a chance to serve others. We know it makes live a little crazy and most people think we are crazy to have so much going on with two little girls, but I think it is a good example to them that life is just not all about what we want. Others need us to help out also. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and the new year has started off on the right foot for you.
