Our Big 5 Year Old!

On Sunday Bree turned 5 (sigh)...we are officially out of baby and toddler stages. :(  Bitter sweet birthday. We celebrated her bday on Saturday, since Nana and Papaw had to head back home on Sunday. Bree wanted to go to the aquarium and also one her favs...Mr Cheese...for dinner.

The aquarium was outside of Wilmington in a place called Fort Fischer...it was right on the ocean. Quick family pic before we headed inside.
My deal now with the girls is if they give me one good picture...then we can do one silly picture.
They had some really big alligators and they were right up against the class, starring right at you. The girls were a little afraid to get too close. Guess they thought it would come thought the glass. So they skooched just close enough for me to get them in the picture with the gator.

I love how Katie is leaning forward....ready to run if needed. :) It was kind of creepy how they just stare at you and don't even move. Glad there was a piece of glass in between.
Checking out the snakes.....I chose to pass on buy...I am not a big fan of the snakes

Papaw and Bree checking out the jelly fish.

Outside they had some things to do...they had a place you could walk trails and explore. Daddy and his two big girls!
Both of them trying to climb on the frogs back and hang on for  picture. It was very humorous to watch them try to do this. :)
Before we left Papaw let them make a penny.
When then headed over to CEC to play some games and have dinner. We stopped at the one in Wilmington. We thought it would be a better one than the usual one we go to in Jacksonville....it was not. We were so disappointed. Half the games didn't work, some didn't even give tickets, this one was very small and add it was crowded, which that didn't surprise me.  But we made the most of it. Bree was a little overwhelmed by the crowd....she didn't want to play lots of games but still tried out some.
Katie showing her.... I can't believe another ride\game is broken....face

My cutie little 5 year old....even though most of the games didn't work she kept thanking me and daddy for bringing her to CEC for her birthday. Love her!
I love the excitement in her face...she is beyond proud that she is 5. She has told anyone and everyone that she is now five.
She wanted help blowing out her 5 candle.
My now 7 and 5 year old. <3
She wanted to open her gifts at CEC....so excited to get her puppy that walks back to her when you put him on the ground.
She also got a LaLa baby, some money, a gift card to put games, book or music on her leap pad and her #5 figurine.
After all the fun at CEC was over we took the girls over to Toys R Us and let them do a little bday shopping. They both got money and...well...it was burning a hole. :)  We had a really fun day. Bree had so much fun...loved each and everything she got.

She is such a sweetheart, so loving and a cuddlier. She just loves to cuddle and hug on you. She always say " I want a huggie and a kiss". She is beyond silly and loves to laugh. I have always said, she has a laugh that comes from her toes up and it will make you smile just hearing it. She is so excited to go to Kindergarten now. We kind of had a melt down on the way home from CEC, she said 'Katie, I get to go to Kindergarten with you on Monday".  When I explained to her that it would be after summer...she go so upset. She just knew that once she turned 5 she was going to Kindergarten then next day. So now we are on the count down of when she goes to Kindergarten. :)

Happy Birthday Breanna Faith! I hope you day was full of fun and memories. We love you!

Birthday Girl...Big 7

Today was Katie's offical birthday. It is so hard to believe that I have a 7 year old.  Even though we did a big part of the celebration this past Saturday, we still made the day special.

She had to go to school, which she was bummed about, but we (me, Nana, Papaw and Bree) got to have lunch with her at school and take cupcakes for the class. I didn't have my camera at lunch but she came into the cafeteria rocking her birthday hat she got to make for the day. I grab a snapshot of it when she came home.

Before she left for school she wanted to open one present.

She has been asking for the Password Journal since after Christmas. It is "suppose" to only open to her voice and password she sets. Let me tell you....this thing has been more of a pain then anything. It took 20 minutes just to get this crazy thing to accept her password. you have to say it and then say it again. If you don't say it exactly the same way it won't take it.  Then when you finally get it to accept the password, half the time it won't open when she says it...because you have to say it exactly like you did when you saved it. Geez!  She brought it to me to have me say it so she could show me how it won't open to anyone but her. When I said the password....it opened. :) I guess we sound the same. BUT with all that said...she loves it and was super excited to have it. So the hassel of this toy is worth it...I think!
After school she opened the rest of her presents....a little blury but she is holding up her #7 figurine that she gets each year from Nana and Papaw. She got some money to spend, a gift card to Amazon (to buy books, music and games for the kindle), she got a board game and some other stuff from friends and family is on the way. She is excited to have stuff in the mail for her.
We ate one of her favs for dinner, tacos. Then we had some birthday cake. She was very specific about her colors for her bday cake and how she wanted it to look. She wanted it to be orange and red....I think she was unknowling paying homage to mine and Chris' favorite football teams UT\UGA.
Blowing out her candle...which was another specific request. She wanted only the number 7. :)

When we had Katie everyone said time would fly by and even though there are times that it seem like it doesn't, overal it is really hard to believe that the little baby we once had is 7. She is so smart, creative, imaginative, she loves to read, has a big heart, is compassionate, is a great big sister, is so silly and loves to laugh and on terrrifc daughter. Katie, I hope your birthday was all that you wanted. We love you and are beyond thanful for you. Life just wouldn't be as fun or full without you in it.

Nana and Papaw Day

Nana and Papaw took the girls out to do something for their birthdays today. They decided to go to the Children's Musuem. They must have had a great time because they were gone all day.

Papaw passing on his chemistry skills...little chemist in the making
 Doing a little grocery shopping.
Whew...lots of groceries to lug home
 Time to check those teethers.
 Say AHHH...
Mom said Bree wasn't quite as trusting as Katie was in the dentist chair.
 Taking care of their patients.
Yep...a shot in the face is just what the doctor ordered. HA....poor bear.
 Cooking up some lunch
 Just call me "Chef Katie"
Looks like a great meal prepared by all. :)
I think it is safe to say they had a blast...especially when Mom said they didn't want to leave. They were there all day until they finally convenced them to leave to go get lunch at 1:30 and then they went back for a few more hours. They were both worn out (Katie and Bree that is or maybe it was Nana and Papaw) and were in bed by 7:30 sleeping soundly. Thanks Nana and Papaw for given them a special day!!!!

Sweet and Sassy

My sweet, soon to be 7 year old girl
and.....her sassy side. :) Very befitting to the day we were about to have.
Saturday we did our fun day activity for Katie's birthday (which isn't until Wed). She was so excited to go to Sweet and Sassy's for her and Bree to have a Pampered Princess Day.

The day started with the most important....the hair. They both had their hair washed, cut and styled. This was the first for both Katie and Bree having their hair washed this way. It was really funny to see their faces. They both looked a little stressed. Bree has a death grip on her seat and Katie just had this worried looked on her face the whole time.

The after shots...two cuties...that have a little more sassy added to them.

After the hair we moved on to nails and toes. I love the stations they had set up...just right for kiddos
Katie was a natural. :) I think she has seen momma have this done a time or two. As soon as she sat down she grab a magazine and she didn't look up from it the entire time.
Bree on the other hand was very interested in everything they were doing to her feet. Bree would giggle from time to time when they were filing her toenails.
Time to rub and massage the legs and feeties.

Still reading that magazine. Ha!  Must have had some good gossip in it.
The finished product...painted, with some nail art and a toe ring.

 Soaking the fingers.
Soaking and filing....they got to have them painted, nail art added and also got to pick out a ring.
All done...sweet and sassy and ready to go out for the birthday dinner.
Red Robin was the choice of dinning for the birthday girl. The girls were really excited that Nana and Papaw were able to be here for the birthday festivities. If you can't tell by Bree's grip on Papaw...they are kind of fond of them. :)
Chris sneaked off during dinner and told our server it was Katie's birthday. They brought over desert and sang to her. She was a little embarrassed...but
I think it was worth it for her for the desert. Yum!
