Rockets Over Rhema

Sunday evening we took the girls to Rockets Over Rhema. Rhema is a huge church in our town and they had an outdoor christian concert along with food and inflatables for the kids. The concert was amazing. They had artist Josh Wilson, Downhere, Building 429 and one of our favorites Matthew West. Matthew West was incredible. Chris and I have loved his music for a long time and this was the first time we saw him in concert and it was well worth sitting in the heat and waiting for him to come out. If you have never listened to any of his music I would encourage you to do so, especially the song Motions. I listen to this song literally everyday and it just makes me remember to live my life to honor and glorify God and not just go through each day without making it count. After the concert they had an awesome fireworks show. Their show is known to be the best in Oklahoma and I would have to agree. The girls loved the fireworks this year. Last year not so much but this year they both sat and watch them. This weekend was a lot of fun family time and fun memories made.

Busy Saturday

Saturday was a busy day for us. In the morning I wanted to go to the Farmers Market that we have in Broken Arrow but when we got there it was extremely disappointing. The produce didn't look good and it was the same price as most supermarkets if not higher so I didn't get to buy what I wanted so it looks like we may have to try the ones in downtown Tulsa. After the FM we went over to the Blue Bell factory, which is like the Mayfield of the midwest, for Taste of Summer. It had lots of things for kids to due pluse all you can eat ice cream. The girls were in heaven with all the choices. It was about 104 degrees on saturday so we didn't stay long there and decided to come home to let the girls swim. After swimming it was nap time and then a quick trip to the grocery store. But at the end of the day the you would think the girls would have been exhausted but they wanted to do one last thing. Go fishing, so we took them across the street to an area that has three ponds and let them fish. Katie got her very first fish last night. Bree kept trying but nothing was biting on her and daddy's line. After the fishing it was time to go home and get ready for bed. It was long day of activites but so much fun.
Girls taking the tour of the Blue Bell Factory. Got to see how ice cream is made and packaged. Pretty cool. No pun instending. :)

Enjoying one of many rounds of ice cream

Showing off their visors they made at the craft table.

Fishing with daddy

Katies first big catch...she was not a big fan of the actually fish. She said it was to slimmy to touch.

In just the last few weeks Bree has become more and more brave in the water. She will not get in the water on her own and take off swiming all by herself. She had a death grip on me a few weeks ago and now she is on her own. It is so cute to watch Katie and Bree both swim around in the pool together.

Heat, Heat and More Heat!!!

The temp around here has been crazy lately. Everyday it is anywhere from95 to 100 degrees, so hot. Over the weekend we took advantage of our neighborhood pool and took the girls for a swim. When we got back I decided to let the girls have a little snack and what better in the heat then a slice of ice cold watermelon. Katie dug right in but Bree wasn't quite sure how to eat it the watermelon slice. She wasn't a big fan, but I got a cute pic of Bree watching Katie dig in.

See Bree you just bit in like this....go ahead it's yummy.

So good!

Vroom Vroom

Thanks to Nana and Papaw the girls got a new set of wheels to cruise around the neighborhood. Mom and Dad wanted to get the girls a power wheel car for them to drive around this summer. After many trips to Walmart and Toys R Us the girls found one they liked and that was in stock. I never knew this cars were so popular, but evidently they are. On Saturday they got their car and have been driving it around all weekend. Katie actually is one the one that drives. Bree is perfectly content in being in the passenger seat letting Katie be her driver.

Help a Sister Out

Everytime we go to Chick-fil-a Katie and Bree always play on the playground. Obviously Katie is big enough to climb up in the play area but Bree is still trying to learn how to get herself from one level to the next. Well, a few months ago Katie started helping Bree climb up the levels so she could play with her. Such sisterly love. It is so funny to watch Katie try to hoast Bree up each level, it is so ungraceful but completely funny. So now when every we go to Chick-fil-a Bree's first thing is saying Katie help me and off they go. Here is a little video of the working together. Oh, if you looking closely about half way through the video Katie is so tired she is struggling getting up to the next step, so Bree decides to lend her a hand.

Catching Up With More Friends

After we left Gatlinburg I headed over to Knoxville for a few days to visit a some of my friends that still live there. I got to catch up with Patricia, who I used to work with at Nova and a few other friends we had in common. We all went out to eat on Friday night to Altruda's and had a blast just laughing and talking about old times and new times. Saturday I headed over to Tammy's house to spend sometime with her. Her two boys and husband were actually gone for the afternoon and evening so we had a girls night out. Went to see Ghost of Girlfiends Past, cute movie, and then afterwards we headed back to her house cooked some dinner and watch a few more movies and got a chance to relax. It was a fun weekend to see everyone, but it also makes me homesick to be back in Knoxville. Chris and I had so many good times there with our friends Maybe one day God has it in our plans to get back there. The only negative is that I didn't get any pictures while I was there. I had the camera just fogot to get it out for pictures.

Vacation Time

Last week the girls, my mom and dad and I headed up to Gatlinburg TN for a little vacation with the girls. I wanted to take some time while I was in TN to spend with the girls and my parents. On Saturday we left for our vacation but before we headed to Gatlinburg I wanted to take the girls to the zoo in Knoxville. We spend Saturday there and the girls had a great time. Lots of animals were out and it was a beautiful warm, not humid day. The week in Gatlinburg we spent plenty of time swimming. Katie learned how to swim all by herself with her arm floaties on. She is so proud of herself that she can get in and swim without me being in the water with her. Bree started to swim on her own but isn't quit there yet, but I think by the end of the summer she will be. We went into Pigeon Forge several days to let the girls ride some of the rides and Katie got to drive a go cart all by herself. Another big moment for her. Bree's big moment was that she rode the rides at all. Last year you couldn't get her on them and this year you couldn't keep her off of them. On Wedndesday we decided to go up to Ober Gatlinburg, I had not been up there in years so I wanted to see what it was like. Katie and Bree saw the ice rink and wanted to go ice skating. So I laced up my skates and took Katie out first. The first time around was very wobbly for her but after that she got the hang of it. She was skating right with me only holding my hand. It was so awesome to watch her pic up on something so quickly. I think we will have to try it again when winter comes around. Bree tried it out also, but she wanted me to actually skate while holding her. I am not that talented so she tried skating while I held her hands but it didn't last long. She gave it her best shot. We made lots of great memories and had a blast spending time with my family. I will post the pics on picasa there are lots, plus my blog is given me issues on attaching photos. Having problems figuring out why it won't let me.
